School of Dental Nursing

The School of Dental Nursing plays a large part in the provision of quality training of both Dental Nurse Apprentices and qualified Dental Nurses.

About our School

Birmingham Dental Hospital is part of Birmingham Community Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust. It works in partnership with the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry in the delivery of internationally recognised clinical services, education and research.

Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry (BDH and SOD) prides itself in being an internationally renowned teaching institution who delivers both undergraduate and postgraduate education for all disciplines of Dentistry. The School of Dental Nursing, as part of that institution, plays a large part in the provision of quality training of both Dental Nurse Apprentices and qualified Dental Nurses alike. BDH and SOD has been the only hospital-based Dental Nurse training programme in the West Midlands since 1962 and have trained more than 300 dental nursing trainees during that time.  We achieved a successful Ofsted outcome in 2023 and are now proud to be rated as a 'good provider.'
