Central Booking Service

Attention Defecit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Receives referrals for the Community Paediatrics Service and Therapy Services. These referrals are then triaged by a clinician to establish if the child or young person has been referred to the relevant service.

About our service

The Neurodevelopment Pathway consists of two services, ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

The team add and process referrals for both ASD and ADHD. Referrals come in through the portal website: https://www.bchcreferrals.nhs.uk/.

The team manage the patients pathway via waiting lists in our clinical system (RiO).

What happens next?

The CBS (Central Booking Service) NDP team add the referral to our clinical system (RiO), the referral is then screened by a clinician. Once the referral has been screened, the CBS NDP Team will send out a set of questionnaires for the parent/carer and school/nursery to complete. These are integral to the process. If questionnaires have not been returned, then the process cannot continue and this will likely result in the child being discharged from the pathway (ASD/ADHD).

ADHD

Once the questionnaires are returned, they are uploaded into the clinical system and are reviewed again by the clinical teams for triage.

The child/young person may then require a QB test (Quantitative Behaviour test). This is a computer test and will be booked by the CBS NDP Team once the child reaches the top of the list; and an appointment letter sent to the family.

Depending on the QB Test, a Diagnostic Appointment may be booked with a Community Paediatrician. If a diagnosis of ADHD is given, they may be followed up by the ADHD Nursing team for any future appointments/medication etc.
