Norovirus cases are high

Norovirus, also called the winter vomiting bug, is a stomach bug that causes vomiting and diarrhoea. It can be very unpleasant but usually gets better in about two days.
The main symptoms of norovirus usually start suddenly and may include:
- feeling sick
- being sick (vomiting)
- diarrhoea.
You may also have:
- a high temperature
- a headache
- tummy pain
- body aches and pains.
If you have had norovirus, it’s important to stay home for 48 hours after your symptoms clear. Do not prepare food for others, go to work or school, visit care homes or hospitals.
Continue to wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water – antibacterial hand gel is not effective against the virus. It is also important to wash your clothes and bedding at 60 degrees.
