Lymphoedema team raises awareness

Lymphoedema and Tissue Viability Team stall at supermarket

The lymphoedema and tissue viability team spent a day at a busy Black Country supermarket as part of Lymphoedema Awareness Week.

Nurses provided information about the condition, samples of recommended emollients and the range of support services available during an awareness-raising session at ASDA, Great Bridge.

Service clinical manager Lynne Malcolm said: “The session was well received, with plenty of interest shown by shoppers. Enquiries included

Lymphoedema affects around 430,000 people of all ages in the UK. It can be hereditary and may be caused by a wide range of conditions and risk factors.

Early diagnosis and treatment is necessary to prevent complications such as cellulitis and to minimise its severity and impact.
