The average adult needs around seven to nine hours of sleep, teenagers need nine to 10 and children between nine and 13 hours.

· Spend time in bright light during the day, natural light or equivalent brightness
· Exercise regularly for a deeper sleep. Aim for 30 minutes a day, five days a week
· Eat your meals at consistent times each day
· Avoid heavy meals, nicotine, caffeine and alcohol before bedtime
· Put away electronic devices an hour before bed and sleep in a cool, dark and quiet environment.
