Customer service apprentices graduate

Picture shows tutor Lorraine Bird with Louie Shipman after receiving his customer service apprenticeship certificate.

To kickstart National Apprenticeship Week, we hosted a graduation for BCHC’s in-house Level 2 customer service cohort alongside a drop-in celebration for apprentices across the Trust.

The celebrations were well attended, with apprentices across the Trust, our in-house tutors and the apprentice supprot team.

Director of education Mark Eaves-Seeley said: “It was great to celebrate today the achievements of our customer service apprentices.

"They have completed a challenging programme, over a 12-month period, and are now well equipped to source jobs, serving customers and patients, hopefully within our own Trust and the wider NHS. It's great to see them succeed and be able to acknowledge their achievements today.”

BCHC apprentice graduate and IMT South worker Louie Shipman said: “What I have loved most about learning and working within BCHC is being able to work in the community and with our nurses to make our community a better place.”

Lorraine Bird, who began her career as an apprentice age 19, is a functional skills specialist tutor for apprenticeships delivered within BCHC.

She said: “Having started my career as an apprentice, it’s really nice to be able to grow others and to see how more and more people are choosing this route

"I love what I do and the job satisfaction it gives me, it’s been a real pleasure to see standing colleagues, and new grow their skillset, build transferable skills and confidence through teaching, assessing and supporting them through their journey.

“We currently have two business administration groups running with six apprentices on one and four on the other, and all those who have completed the apprenticeship have all passed and gone on to secure jobs and change their lives.

"It doesn’t matter your age, background or band, everyone who’s completed this course have all benefitted and speak highly of the opportunities it’s provided them."
