Centenarian celebration at Moseley Hall Hospital
Congratulations to Moseley Hall Hospital patient Reg Warner who has celebrated his 100th birthday.
Ward staff were joined by Reg’s friends and family, who all made sure his milestone birthday was extra special.
Reg, from Sutton Coldfield, was transferred to Moseley Hall Hospital from Good Hope Hospital for rehabilitation following a fall at home. He is due to be discharged home next week.
Ward Clerk Megan Hopkinson (pictured far left) said: “Reg has a great spirit, a lot of enthusiasm for life and a great sense of humour and when we found out he was approaching his 100th year, we wanted to do something to mark such an amazing milestone!
“While he has lost confidence in walking since the fall, he is strong and lively in so many ways – we wish him well on his return home.”
Reg was born in 1923 in Middlesex - the youngest of seven children - and during the second world war served in the Royal Navy. He moved to Birmingham after the war to work in a factory and met his first wife, Gladys. Together they adopted two sons, Mark and Paul.
Reg has been a keen sportsman all his life – in his 30s he was a table tennis coach and was still playing up until a few years ago. He also enjoyed line dancing and playing bowls.
His girlfriend, Brenda (seated to the right of Reg) said: “Reg has always been very active. A couple of years ago we went abroad together and he’d still be up for a game of table tennis against much younger people – and he’d win!”
